Weathered Venus
Jim Dine (1935- ) gave a new interpretation of Venus de Milo, which is one of the representative artifacts of the Ancient Greece, through this work. The original Venus was made of marble and represented the perfect beauties of symmetry. However, Jim Dine removed both arms and the head from his Venus to visualize the artistic process and used bronze materials instead of marble. This job added familiarity and modernity and shed a new light on Venus de Milo, which has been the symbol of the perfect beauty.
