Big Temptation
Romero Britto (1963~), born in Brazil, is an international pop artist, who creates his own bright and hopeful style from various trends in art history, ranging from cubism to pop art and graffiti. He started to be internationally recognized due to the outdoor installation of a large-scale art piece at Hyde Part, a royal garden in London, and put his art works in symbolic places of each country, such as JFK Airport in New York, San Paulo International Airport in Brazil, and Swiss Bank.
[Big temptation] leaves people, who see the painting, with pleasant and happy feelings by expressing the image of the serpent tempting Eve, as described in the Bible, in his unique bright colors. His work may look as a flat painting, if you see it in front due to the dividinglines in black, but if you view it from the side, you would realize it is a three-dimensional painting. The combination of the characteristic of both sculpture and painting in one piece is the major feature of Britto’s artwork.
