Head 2000
Sang-ho Shin (1947~) gained reputation for his work, which had been created as an outcome of modern interpretation of Buncheong ware in the early 1970s, and later shifted his focus to “sculptures molded with soil.” Especially, the form of animals, which he formulates, started from primitive creativity and vitality, which captured the artist during his visit to Africa. The shape of primitive life, recreated by his hands, seems that its real form and imaginative image are strangely molded together. His work [head 2000] shows the shape of the head of an animal, embodied with soil, which seems to exist only on a mural inside a paleo cave, emanating vitality that the animal originally possesses.
