Sehwa Collection: Guidepost to the New World

Sehwa Museum of Art, affiliated with the Taekwang Group, presents “Sehwa Collection: Guidepost to the New World,” a collection exhibition offering a special opportunity to encounter Yayoi Kusama’s installation piece.
The museum’s collection, Guidepost to the New World consists of multiple red droplet-shaped sculptures coming together as one. Adorned with Kusama’s signature polka-dot pattern, the work stands out with its vivid red hue and crisp white patterns. Like gleaming candy, the curved sculptures retain a sense of graceful form, while each droplet comes together as a collective to seemingly guide the way toward the unknown. Kusama’s expansive installation draws viewers into its space and environment, where the sculptures unfold.
Unveiled in Korea for the first time in celebration of the museum’s expanded reopening, Guidepost to the New World reflects the depth of the artist’s worldview. Integrating an infinite stream of dots into sculptural form, the work conveys a belief and will to move toward another world, even in an uncontrollable one. What is this “new world” we are heading toward? What force compels us in that direction? Guidepost to the New World invites you to experience a fleeting moment within the daily flow of time.
- Guidepost to the New World consists of 11 sculptural elements, 10 of which are currently installed.
