The Silhouette of Memory: Form, Image, Perspective
2026. 3. 26(Thu) - 6. 28(Sun)
Gallery 2, 3(3F)
The contemporary art exhibition The Silhouette of Memory: Form, Image, Perspective is conceived as an attempt to reconsider “memory,” which is now rapidly generated and consumed within digital environments, from the standpoint of human senses and lived experience.
Rather than approaching memory as a fixed record of the past, the exhibition understands it as something that comes into being through embodied encounter: moving through space, listening to sound, and standing before images.
Working across different media, the three artists Sunghyeop SEO, Soosik LIM, and Bomin KIM gradually reveal the sensory structures through which memory is made. Installations that combine wooden frameworks and sound, photographic works composed in the format of chaekgado (traditional scholar’s bookcase paintings), and paintings that reconfigure the viewpoint of classical landscape painting are interwoven along the trajectory of “form, image, perspective.”
The “gates” installed at the entrance and exit of the galleries, together with the sound environment created in collaboration with sound artist Yeong Choi, guide the viewer’s movement and perception, shaping a sensory field in which memory takes place.
In an age when images and information are generated, edited, and circulated in real time, visitors are invited to move slowly between the works, encountering the silhouettes of memory as they appear through form, image, and perspective. In that moment, memory is no longer stored data, but emerges as a landscape continually remade through the body and the senses.
