The Unknown Masterpiece

2022. 7. 26. - 2022. 12. 31.

Sehwa Museum of Art, Gallery 1, 2

The Sehwa Museum of Art, previously inaugurated as Ilju & Seonhwa Gallery in 2010 and refurbished and extended in 2017, has consistently continued to promote and support the Korean art scene, establishing itself as a leading private art museum in Korea for over 10 years. The museum has been making effort to be more professional and highly systematic in carrying out its functions as an art museum in collecting, researching, and preserving works of art. The museum now unveils The Unknown Masterpiece, a special art show that brings together artworks ed from its collection.

This collection exhibition is intended to showcase the museum’s own distinctive collection by displaying only significant works by artists who made their marks on art history including not only forerunners of Surrealism such as Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Andre Masson, and Man Ray, but also leading contemporary American artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Frank Stella.

We hope viewers discover artists’ profound philosophical ideas and inside narratives through an introduction of relatively less highlighted masterpieces apart from masterworks and series by 17 globally celebrated artists.
