The Sehwa Museum of Art in affiliation with the Taekwang Group unveils Tuning the Ears, of the projected exhibition trilogy, Non-Algorithm Challenge from October 18 to November 26, 2023.

The Non Algorithm Challenge is a project that encourages multifaceted contemplation of humanism within the context of human and nonhuman existence and relationships in the era of artificial intelligence. As the field of artificial intelligence, which can replace humans, continues to expand, new perspectives on human existence and roles are required.

The Non Algorithm Challenge aims to showcase artistic works that on the unstructured human thought processes and to reflect on humanism.

The first exhibition, Tuning the Ears various works that emphasize human senses, particularly auditory senses, will be displayed. Artists Bae Insook, Wonwoori, Jun Hyoung San present works centered on the human’s subjective sensory process of ‘listening.’

Listening involves the process of finding desired signals among various sounds, a unique process where our brains autonomously interpret external data and create meaning. This exhibition amplifies the often overlooked sense of hearing in a visually dominated world and seeks to shed light on how we perceive sounds and ultimately explore the essence of human existence.

On display at the exhibition are works that on human senses, especially hearing.

It is our hope that each visitor can sense their time, position, and existence by attuning their ears in this place where artworks that only viewers can attune are displayed.
