Aromatherapy of Memories

2024. 10. 26. Saturday

3F & 2F, Sehwa Museum of Art

Sehwa Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition-related program “Aromatherapy Workshop of Memories” in conjunction with James Rosenquist: Universe. This multisensory appreciation program includes viewing representative works from the exhibition with a curator, followed by expressing those impressions through color and scent. Using eight essential oils from the TWW brand, participants will experience the psychological calming and emotional care effects of aromatherapy while blending their unique “scent” based on their feelings from the exhibition.

The sense of smell conveys memories and emotional feelings more effectively than other senses, leaving clearer impressions of memories or emotions related to particular subjects or situations. By capturing the experience of the exhibition in “scent,” participants will create an olfactory memory of the event. You will have the opportunity to make your own aromatherapy spray, cherishing the moment when you encapsulate the memory of the exhibition in fragrance.

International aromatherapist Ji-eun Lee expresses her hope that “not only will participants remember the exhibition through scent, but the time spent together will remain a moment of healing and comfort.”

Program Structure (Approx. 120 minutes)
The program includes a 30-minute session for viewing artworks with the curator and a 90-minute aromatherapy workshop to create an aromatherapy spray. With the help of international aromatherapist Lee Ji-eun, participants will use blending sheets for essential oils to create an aromatherapy spray that encapsulates their memories from the exhibition.
