Seoul Arcade Project: Exploring Urban Spaces through Literature and Art
Join Professor Ryu Shin from Chung-Ang University as he delves into urban spaces in Seoul through a unique blend of humanities and art, inspired by his book Seoul Arcade Project: Everyday Life in Seoul Through Literature and Art. His essay The Grand Theater of Phantasmagoria: Ten Reflections on the City, Color, and Light is also featured in the Phantom City catalog, available for purchase at Sehwa Museum Shop.
About the Speaker Ryu Shin
Born in 1968 in Incheon, Ryu Shin graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in German Language and Literature and earned his PhD from the University of Bremen in Germany in 2004. He currently serves as a professor of German Studies in the School of European Languages and Cultures at Chung-Ang University.
Ryu debuted as a literary critic in 2000 after winning the Kyunghyang Shinmun New Year’s Literary Contest. His work explores the intersections of Korean and German literature, poetry and painting, and urban spaces and the humanities.
