Frank Stella (1936~) is an American artist, famous for minimalism paintings with a focus on flatness of paintings. He continued an experiment of flat paintings by repeatedly bringing the contour of a canvas into inside the drawings and presented polygon-shaped canvas and paintings drawn in a rich color sense. Then, he has started to employ relief construction, which combines organic forms, since the 1970s.
[Arpachiyah], a piece with various textures and forms coexisting in a complex manner, evokes paintings of abstract expressionism. As he devotes his life into the original characteristics of paintings, he is continuously conducting diverse experiments of incorporating the area of three-dimensional forms into paintings as one of their potentials.
