Taekwang Group Sehwa Museum of Art (SMA) will hold the second and third exhibitions of the Non-Algorism Challenge, Skin, the Deepest Part, and 4℃ from January 30 to April 28, 2024.
The ‘Non-Algorithm Challenge’ is a projected exhibition that explores ‘humanity’ differentiated from AI in an era of coexistence with advanced artificial intelligence. This project aims to examine Humanism by presenting art work that on the atypical human thinking system. The first exhibition, Tuning the Ears, thought about human’s unique senses centered on hearing. The second and third exhibition es on the human body and memory.
The second exhibition, Skin, the Deepest Part, brings into the ‘human body’ as a medium that connects the world and self. The body is the point where human’s free will begins and where the relationship between the subject and the other is vividly accumulated. Participation artists in this exhibition, Chanwook Min, Kwanwoo Park, and Chanmin Jeong take note of how the concepts of birth, ment, and death derived from the biological body will change when applied to digital humans or artificial intelligence, and what meaning the human body can have. This provides an opportunity to consider ‘being alive’ at the boundary between the physical world and the digital space.
The third exhibition, 4℃, bring into the ‘memory’. In the contradictions of memory, participation SEOM:, Omyo CHO, Tae Kim answers a questions that human may face. We can get a glimpse of the possibilities of memory as a sign of humanity that artificial intelligence cannot imitate, where we can experience a different world from reasonable answers through artificial intelligence. 4℃ connects senses and memory, (non-)humans and memory, future and memory. This exhibition looks for wide answers to life outside the artificial world that tries to simulate everything.
